Annejet Brandsma (1995) studied Crossmedia Design at the AKI ArtEZ in Enschede and graduated cum laude with the multimedia project Good People (Goed Volk). A series in photography, film and book form about the traditional social structure of Dutch rural countryside. She focused mainly on its influence on the younger generation. This work was on display in Museum MORE in Gorssel (NL).
In 2021 she finalized a short documentary called Women of the Land. In the documentary rural women of different generations throughout the Netherlands have their say. Annejet investigates the (social) position of these women in our history on the basis of personal stories and historical (agricultural) developments. Together these stories contribute to a layered image of the identity, emancipation and position of female farmers in the Netherlands. The women’s stories are framed by the documentary maker’s personal development and reflections during the making process.
In addition to her practice as a photographer, she has been part of Studio Polat since 2017, where she provides Art Direction through design, film and photography. She has also designed various exhibitions and events at home and abroad.
She has worked for organizations such as Rabobank, Rijksmuseum and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management. Annejet is skilled in photography, film, design, concept development, editing and image editing.
